Book #253

Flex-a-cordion

Today I have a book that is a mashup of an accordion book and a flexagon. It can be opened and displayed like a basic accordion, but it can also be folded and rearranged into the format shown in the second photo.

How did you figure that one out? It's astonishing.

Thanks Marie. There are a lot of different flexagon forms. Once you see how they work, then a little tweaking can go a long way. I haven't seen this particular variation before - I did this based off one that I learned from Matt Liddle a few years ago which one just one flexible unit. So for today's accordion version, I just doubled it so that there are two flexible units.

There are lots of instructions online, from simple to very complicated. There are also some books like this one The Magic of Flexagons.
