Happy Thanksgiving - Giveaway!

It's Thanksgiving in Canada this weekend! So Happy Thanksgiving to all my fellow Canucks. We get to eat turkey and pie and have an extra day off from work and school. Woohoo! AND - I'm adding another bit of fun by giving away this "Acadmic Planner"! This is the last of the Academic planners that I made this year. It is a monthly format calendar, so there is a two-page spread for each month. It is set up for the current academic year - so it started in July 2011 and ends next August 2012. It also has lots of blank pages for notes, and a pocket at the back, a ribbon bookmark, and standard reference pages as found in most such calendars. It is handbound using a longstitch binding and the cover is a really nice brown cowhide leather. I will have a draw to pick a winner for this amazing prize! If you would like to get your name into the draw for a chance to win - you must leave me a comment here and either: tell me what you think is the best thing in my Etsy Shop right now! OR tell me something fun about your Thanksgiving celebrations (this is not just for those celebrating Canadian Thanksgiving - this giveaway is open to everyone, everywhere). Leave your comments before the end of day Thursday, October 13th. I'll draw the winner on Friday, October 14th.

In Denmark where I come from we do not celebrate thanksgiving, so I do not have anything to say about that. I just bought a couple of your pocketnotebooks, and I am really looking forward to receiving them. What I like most in your etsy, must be the book with pages of different kinds of paper. It is so cool. Love the combination of the leather and the pages. Would love to learn to bind my own books some day..

Ha! I thought the 3 Leather Journals would be perfect for my 3 girls. Then I read further - groomsmen gifts. They'd still be great for my three girls or my two boys and son-in-law.
Great giveaway. Thanks for the chance to win.
I love your little book earrings too and of course, those teeny tiny mini books.

I think the purple leather patchwork journal is the best thing in your etsy shop right now. The color and patchwork make it very eye-catching and stunningly beautiful. The stitching is wonderful - everything about it is just great, but then, I think all of your work is fabulous. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family, and I love your blog and your work. I can't pick one favorite in your shop, you know I adore your work, and all of your papers

This year Im especially thankful because we are having a quiet yet fun thanksgiving and I have a special person in my life that I never thought Id have with being in a wheelchair, I know its silly to think that.

A favorite thannksgiving memory: having the turkey on the kitchen counter thawing only to go in the kitchen and find our wonderful dog Charlie up at the counter liking the turkey...luckily it could be washed lol...what a day!

happy thanksgiving everyone!

I love the tall patchwork journals especially the brown one. The patchwork makes it very eye catching and for me the tall book fits perfectly in my camera bag for those moments where I want to capture the details of what I am trying to achieve. Love the quality of all your work and how you Are interested in learning and sharing techniques and styles from history.

I'd probably benefit from having some sort of decent calendar. I seem to have so many things in my life right now and as always I'm way too absent-minded..

I just checked you Etsy shop and I rather liked the dark brown tiny leather journal, especially the colours of it.

Yes! A VERY happy Thanksgiving weekend to you my favourite and only artschool-in-the-woods in Michigan Roommate!
How can I possibly say which is my most favourite thing in your Etsy Shop? Everything you make is SO lovely! Truly it is!
Perhaps I do tend to favour the "fat" leather journals the most!
Be well and Enjoy!

Hi
Happy Thanksgiving. This world is amazing. We celebrate so many myriad festivals. In India, we just finished celebrating Dusherra, which essentially signifies good conquering evil.
I love the autumn twigs notebook, its vibrant and it is made of recycled paper.
Happy festivities.

For Thanksgiving this year my Mom was visiting from Quebec, and I had a bunch of "orphan" library students and my friend Stoo over for Thanksgiving supper on Sunday night. I made three pies! The guys each had two full plates of food, and attempted to eat at least two pieces of pie but failed after the first slice of pumpkin.

It's difficult to choose a favorite product. I'd have such fun writing in the fawn-colored leather journal with pages of mixed colors and textures. Then there's the journal with a faded red cover and barn door latches that remind me of summers on Uncle Bruce's Wisconsin farm. For today, however, I'm going to choose a pair of blue book earrins to wear when a read to kindergartenrs later this week. When I visted the class the first time, the teacher asked the children why they thought I came to visit. Her answer: "Because Mrs. Payne loves to read!" How did she know?

Janetto said...

well...so many and I have had a good look at them all, all beautiful, all individual. But I would pick one that may be overlooked, a small journal with a lovely red marble cover - it just spoke to me, that's why. Something I would use and hold and feel and love, and love again - the sort of item you would never tire of. If I had made such a thing, indeed any book (and I do make some myself)I would so want someone else to treasure what I had put so much into, and I definitely would that.
As for thanksgiving, no we don't 'do' that here in Cornwall! but I did have a lovely weekend, being thankful for my surroundings, for being able to watch for choughs (our county bird, newly returned to the cliffs) and for the chance to start making a new coptic-bound book myself - a different kind of but as valid giving of thanks, every day. And thanks for all your delights too!

I love so many things in your shop, but particularly the leather journals -- especially in mint green.

Thanksgiving has been mercifully simple this year, and every year, since we gave up on the turkey. Now it's a chicken cooked in a clay baker, and life is good. The spectacular weather this year didn't hurt either.

Hi Rhonda.
In the Netherlands we don't celebrate thanksgiving. So no special time of the year now. Not for long: half of november it is St. Maarten. That is the time that children go from one door to the other with lights in pumpkins or lampions, sing and get sweets or something like that. And from there on we go from one to the other festivity.
I like your recycled books. Besides that your Etsy is so well organized and the pictures so clear.
Your giveaway looks so interesting: will be a addition on my desk....
