More headbands

After I saw PiedCrow's tutorial for sewing headbands, I decided I could not delay any longer. I learned to sew headbands way back, like 5 years ago. At that time I did a few, but stopped and eventually decided I would never remember how to make them. Iris's instructions were great - it all came back to me. Just like riding a bike. So thanks for doing that Iris!

These are all full leather bindings. With two of them I decided to make the covers a bit more three dimensional by adding raised letters and a crane. These are in my Etsy shop now.

Oh, hooray! They look really wonderful. I'm glad the instructions were clear enough. :)

These are wonderful, you are so clever. I must try this next year, what thread did you use for the headbands? Thanks for the link to Iri's tutorial I'll go have a look.

Billie :)

thanks for all the nice comments!

Billie, i just used DMC embroidery thread for these headbands. When I did this originally in a course, we used much finer silk threads.

I've had the book "Headbands: How to Work Them" for a while now and haven't tried any of the tutorials yet (I'm sure looking forward to the end of craft show season). You make the process look so easy...nice results!

Consider yourself tagged (ack!)...here's the deal: You have to list eight things about yourself and then link to 8 artist blogs. Each artist you tag is to do the same and then leave a comment.

I just started binding my own journals, I do a lot of raised designs, I take heavy card stock and print and cut out my shapes then I layer them to create a three dimensional effect.
